AI at the Edge: Mobility

This webinar will explore the potential impact of the addition of AI or Machine Learning to embedded solutions in the Mobility sector. Building on the success of the initial Implementing AI Webinars, in partnership with EPoSS (the European Technology Platform for Smart Systems), we have launched the AI at the Edge monthly webinar series for product designers and technologists looking at developments in embedded AI solutions (AIoT).

The addition of AI or Machine Learning to embedded solutions will provide a powerful advance in the implementation of smart systems and support the advances in digitalisation that apply to all industry sectors. To help organisations understand the opportunities of this emerging technology area, the webinars will focus on the potential impact on a set of industry sectors: Digital Industry, Mobility and Healthcare. Each webinar will consist of a series of keynote presentations and industry case studies. The series is aimed at both technology users, who want to understand the capabilities of technologies, as well as product development engineers, designers and product managers who are looking to improve the capabilities of the systems that they design.

Emerging & Novel Sensing Technologies for Precision Medicine & Digital Health

As part of the 50th Intelligent Sensing Program – Emerging & Novel Sensing Technologies for Precision Medicine & Digital Health

13 October 2020—15 October 2020

10:00-12:00

As recent emerging healthcare technologies, Precision Medicine and Digital Health have attracted great commercial investment in developing new technology developments, among them sensing technologies are the keys.

At this session, we have invited three expert speakers to share some novel sensing technologies currently underdevelopment with attendees, e.g. Implantable technology and segmental microfluidic sensing technologies, etc.  In addition, four relevant companies will showcase their novel sensing technologies.

The use of digital assets including electronic health records and remote collection of ‘vital signs’ combined with a deeper understanding of individuals’ physiology has led to the emergence of a new health care strategy; precision medicine. This has the potential to enable more precise diagnosis, more informed clinical decisions and, ultimately, a more targeted and effective treatment or intervention for every patient, improving the overall care quality.

Sensor technology, which features at various points in the precision medicine landscape, can enhance diagnostics, therapy management and health status monitoring and is a key component of this new approach at multiple stages of the patient journey.

This 3 days webinar will bring together relevant communities, sensor technology providers, new molecular characterisation technology developers and innovators working in AI, and other relevant stakeholders such as innovation funders. It aims to facilitate knowledge sharing, stimulate new ideas generation, develop new collaborations and partnerships.

Leading experts will discuss key subjects relevant to market challenges and opportunities, state of the art sensing technologies, emerging sensing technologies, as well as relevant innovation funding opportunities in the UK. Additionally, selected industry companies will showcase their technologies, expertise, and capabilities in shorter pitching talks.

Collaboration PlatformOur online networking tool, Meeting Mojo, can be used to discuss collaborative opportunities and facilitate introductions between the delegates and the speakers.

Meeting Mojo provides powerful networking through online messaging and 1:1 virtual meetings. You will be able to use this to upload your profile, search other users’ profiles and book video chat meetings via the platform which will take place after each webinar.

Confirmed Speakers

  • Anna Luisa Schaffgotsch, CEO & Founder, Impli Ltd

  • Xize Niu, Director & Founder, SouthWestSensor Ltd

Spread Academy (Digital Primary Care)

Do you have a digital idea for primary care settings challenged by COVID-19?

This autumn the South West Academic Health Science Network (SW AHSN) is partnering with NHS Devon Clinical Commissioning Group to host the Spread Academy (Digital Primary Care) – a virtual academy to support primary care teams across the South West to prepare their digital projects for spread and scale.

Our Spread Academy is an immersive training programme designed to equip teams and leaders in health and care with the skills and insight they need to unleash large-scale change. Developed in collaboration with renowned US-based social change agency, Billions Institute, the academy teaches a practical framework for designing and leading large-scale change that the Billions Institute call the ‘Model for Unleashing’.

The Spread Academy (Digital Primary Care) will be delivered entirely remotely across eight online sessions from 22 September to 17 November 2020.

Applications are welcomed from teams and leaders in primary care across Devon, Somerset, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, with a digital health or care project that is ready to spread and scale across a primary care system.
